After seven long years of delays, silence and teasing on twitter, Coaltar of the Deepers have finally set a release date for the mythical “Rabbit EP”.
In case you’re new, COTD release EPs every so often and Rabbit was the next in line, following shortly after the Bear EP in 2007. Yes, you read that right, TWO THOUSAND SEVEN. It was then given a release date of October 2011, but the only thing we ended up getting was the Mawaru Penguindrum theme song single “Dear Future”.
Cut to 2013 at a live where a fan inquired about a release date, and Narasaki then said it would be out in 2014 “depending on our manager”. Well, here we are in 2018. Still waiting.
I’m absolutely delighted to say that the wait may finally be over after all, since at least this time around we have a concrete month AND a new single, available 8/31 that will give us a hint into how Coaltar will sound an entire decade after no new music.
The first cut from the long awaited “Rabbit EP”, “SUMMER GAZER ’92” will be available on iTunes in just a few hours! Get ready.
